So yeah, rough call with the Bucks winning the Eastern Conference. In the world of sports blogging, you have to be bold with your picks to draw attention to how shitty your blog is.
No matter. I went 2-2 in the EC first round, and my two losses were the Celtics (so I couldn’t pick the Cavs) and a Bucks team that has 2 Syracuse players on it (Huge Cuse basketball fan since 2009). This round, there’s no bias, so you’ll get my real honest picks (sort of).
1 seed Atlanta Hawks vs. 5 seed Washington Wizards
Game 1: Washington 104, Atlanta 98

So the Hawks were able to put away the Brooklyn Nets in six games, thanks to this guy, DeMarre Carroll. In seven playoff games, Carroll is averaging 18.4 points a game on 55 percent shooting. Honestly, I gotta give it up to Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer on this one. I never heard of DeMarre Carroll until like a month ago, but apparently he’s a scorer now? I literally cannot tell you anything about this guy. So obviously, Budenholzer must know what he is doing when his “Big 3” is Al Horford, Jeff Teague, and Carroll. Props to him.
But after watching the first game of this series on Sunday, I cannot say I feel confident in the Hawks. Obviously they lost home court advantage, but the Wizards seemed to play great defense and really limit the Hawks offensively in the second half. Atlanta was held to 37 percent all game. It really is true when they say that defense wins championships. Besides, John Wall and Bradley Beal make up one of the best backcourts in the league. And that’s The Truth.

Wizards in 6.
2 seed Cleveland Crybabies vs. 3 seed Chicago Bulls

Like I said earlier, there sure as hell won’t be any bias here. Just gonna take a look at a good match-up between the Crybabies and the Bulls.
The Crybabies come into the second round having swept the Celtics, although it came at a price. Future Celtic Kevin Love will likely miss the rest of the playoffs with a dislocated shoulder, and JR Smith was suspended 2 games for being a loser. Without Love to spread the defense out with his 3-ball, Baby BronBron and Kyrie will have a more difficult time driving in the lane among big men like Joakim Noah and Pau Gasol. The Crybabies will probably try to get Mike Miller or James Jones in the game to shoot the 3 and be replacements for Love on offense.
But whaddaya know, Derrick Rose kept both his knees throughout the playoff series with the Bucks and was fantastic. There were snippets of vintage Rose in each game. Backup point guard Aaron Brooks is playing like a starter, Jimmy Butler can take over a game, and head coach Tom Thibodeau is a defensive wizard. If anyone can beat the Crybabies in the Eastern Conference, it’s the Chicago Bulls.

Bulls in 7.
Therefore, I switch my pick in the Eastern Conference to the Bulls, as they have the defense to slow down Wall and Beal and the best point guard in the league in 2011.
